INTRODUCTION TO CARICATURE DRAWING
Bring a photo of yourself, a friend or loved one and our instructor will teach you the basic steps in turning that photo into a funny looking caricature. Caricature creation is about exaggeration and in learning this skill or craft you’ll develop the ability to see the world and its amazing characters in a whole new fun and interesting way.
Perhaps the most famous artist to ever try his hand at caricatures was Leonardo da Vinci. Known for his incredibly detailed and meticulously realistic artistic works, Leonardo revealed a more humorous and sinister side of himself through his marvelous caricature drawings of some of the villainous figures of his time. Fast forward to modern times and the great American artist Al Hirschfeld became highly identified with his impeccable cartoon renderings of the show business celebrities of the 40 and 50s. But Walt Disney created the most iconic cartoon characters of all time including Snow White, Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and many more.
